Pharmacy Technician - Coordinator

The Pharmacy Technician – Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy Programs and participates in the administration of programs designed to optimize utilization of targeted drugs and assist with pharmacy cost-saving initiatives. This role reviews prior authorization requests, verifying benefits, and ensures appropriate use of drugs based on established guidelines and policies. Acts as a liaison between various internal and external stakeholders. Assists healthcare professionals in navigating prior authorizations, insurance approvals, and other processes to ensure timely patient access to necessary medications. Performs all Pharmacy Technician duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Programs.  

As a Pharmacy Technician, perform the following non-judgmental duties involved in working in a retail environment under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist: obtaining patient information specific to creating an electronic patient profile, obtain prescription insurance information and accurately enter it in the pharmacy system, check that information on a prescription is complete and legible at the time of drop-off, retrieve the correct medication from inventory, stock/order/update inventory according to established process, prepare medical insurance claims, direct clinical patient questions to the pharmacist for consultation, properly and accurately ring out the patient, inform Pharmacist when there is a new prescription being picked up which requires consultation, and other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacist-on-Duty.
